The GMR Group successfully won the bid as a Franchisee for Indian Premier League (IPL) sponsored 20-20 Delhi Team. This bid was won in an interesting and intensely contested auction organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). While the GMR Group has marked its presence in the capital through its modernising and restructuring of the Delhi International Airport, the winning of the franchisee rights for the Delhi 20-20 team augments the Group’s commitment to build social assets in the important National Capital Region (NCR) and the surrounding catchment regions.

Mumbai: Brisk half centuries by the left-handed duo of Saurabh Tiwary and Shikhar Dhawan steered Mumbai Indians ‘A’ to a convincing 8-wicket victory against Mumbai Indians ‘B’ in the pre-IPL practice match at the Brabourne Stadium on Wednesday.

There was added motivation for the young MI stars, as Captain Sachin Tendulkar, vice-captain Zaheer Khan and Team Owner Mrs. Nita Ambani were overseeing proceedings at the Cricket Club of India grounds. The Mumbai Indians had kicked off their final preparation-cum-conditioning camp ten days earlier, under the guidance of Robin Singh, TA Sekar, Jonty Rhodes and Paras Mhambrey.
