Like most legends, Knight Riders has embarked upon a journey that is quite simple, intangible and surreal. Created in 2008 and envisioned by two adventurous Knights and a lady; Shahrukh Khan, Jay Mehta and Juhi Chawla we started out as a “people’s team” in the IPL 2008 and exceeded the expectations of competitors and compatriots.

The name Knight Riders was chosen to mirror the values and culture we uphold. We are impassioned by courage, youth, talent, ambition, focus & dedication and armed with the recognition that with great honor comes greater responsibility. Responsibility of wisdom, perseverance, ethics, morality and professionalism which, we maintain as a benchmark for our brand and in everything we do.
Our armor is an allegiance to the excellence and the success we strive to deliver. Black symbolizes the Godess Kali, whose shakti (power) is a culmination of various strengths bestowed upon her by other Gods to fight evil on earth. Like her, we fight. And we fight as a team, using our collective strengths as individuals to always win. It also invokes a sense of power, confidence and determination. The golden helmet is a symbol of our focus and commitment to always achieve the highest accolades in all fields. It depicts the rewards reaped by those chosen to play for our team!

It is time once again to set our date with destiny! Friends, fans, supporters, alliances and all cricket enthusiasts; we welcome you to witness and be a part of the mounting courage, strength and will power to fight for and claim what is ours. We have returned stronger, tougher and even more determined to take the IPL by storm. We have taken it in our stride to not only be the unrelenting champions of tomorrow but also continue to honour the title of the ‘people’s team’ bestowed upon us. This year too, we will aim to mirror your expectations and win over every heart and mind in the county. We, the Kolkata Knight Riders pledge to conquer the heart of every cricket loving Indian – man, woman or child; and continue to remain the pillars of dignity, confidence and inspiration for all others. Since its inception, Kolkata Knight Riders has far exceeded all expectations in terms of the brand and business, not only for us but also for all our associates and partners. Every woman has dreamt of a Knight in shinning armour, who is a true personification of excellence, dignity, strength and responsibility. For me, the Knight Riders symbolize the heroes of tomorrow who have embarked on their journey to win not just the highest accolades in their pathway but also capture the imagination of millions of women across the globe. They are the Knights impassioned by courage, youthfulness, talent and dedication.
It is nothing but a truly proud moment for me when I stand by these Knights, cheering for them and what they stand for. As they once again prepare to don their helmets and fight it out on the grounds; I am certain that victory will only be theirs, and mine as a fan, supporter and friend of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
